Russian Pedicure with Gel Polish
I see damaged nails every day.
And, frankly, these days, seeing perfectly healthy nails is more unusual for me than seeing damaged ones.
This video isn’t about blaming or criticizing another nail technician. It’s simply something I constantly encounter in my work and something I think we, as professionals, need to talk about more.
This was this client’s second visit to me.
When we first met, her nails were already damaged—but nowhere near as badly as you see now. After our first visit, she went to another salon because it was more convenient for her.
Two weeks later, this is the result.
The sides of the nails were heavily filed, the cuticle area was damaged, and the existing damage had worsened.
And yes, this pedicure cost about $100.
And here, to be honest, I feel a little dissonant. My pedicures cost $160, and on healthy nails, my clients usually wear them for up to two months.
So $100 for a pedicure that looks like this after two weeks is effectively about $200 a month. 😅 Maybe it’s time for me to rethink my prices.
But seriously, this is why I talk so much about education.
If you’re a nail technician and aren’t confident in a particular technique, nail anatomy, or proper nail manipulation, additional training can dramatically improve the quality of your work. And yes, I’m releasing my own course very soon.
I’m still learning, even after many years in the profession.
Because beautiful chrome powder and trendy designs are wonderful. But first, we need to understand anatomy and know how to keep a natural nail healthy.
And I’d really like to see nail technicians discuss nail anatomy and proper technique more one day.
