How to Keep Your Pedicure Beautiful During Vacation

🌴

Vacation season is here! Beach days, sandals, and travel are just around the corner. Today, I’d like to share a few recommendations that I give my clients every summer.

If you’re planning a vacation, I recommend getting your pedicure 7–10 days before your trip, rather than a day or two before you leave.

Why?

During a pedicure, we remove calluses and rough skin, leaving your feet feeling smooth and soft. But it’s important to remember that one of your skin’s primary functions is protection. Wherever your feet experience constant pressure and friction, your skin naturally begins building up a protective layer again.

Now think about a beach vacation…

Hot sand, walking barefoot, salt water, and summer heat all put extra stress on the skin of your feet. After just a few days, you may notice that your feet already feel rougher again. In reality, that’s simply your skin doing exactly what it’s designed to do.

Here are my recommendations:

✔️ Schedule your pedicure 7–10 days before your vacation.

✔️ After spending time at the beach, take a shower and apply a professional foot cream. The skin on your feet is much thicker than the skin on the rest of your body, so products formulated specifically for feet are much more effective. If you don’t have one with you during your trip, any moisturizer is still better than using nothing at all.

✔️ Stay well hydrated and, whenever possible, avoid spending the entire day walking barefoot on the sand.

✔️ If you wear gel polish on your toes, gently clean the sidewalls around your nails after the beach using an orangewood stick lightly moistened with rubbing alcohol or another skin-safe antiseptic. Fine sand often collects in these small areas.

Do you usually get your pedicure right before your vacation, or do you schedule it in advance? 💛
